Easter, 2019 Spring blooms..
This weekend brings out so many memories for me. The day was special as a child with a basket full of goodies for my three younger brothers and myself. Colorful and the exact same amount of mainly sweets in each basket. The baskets were usually hidden inside our home as the weather wasn't always cooperating. My mother always had a lovely spring Easter garden. Fresh with the new blooms after a long winter. The daffodils, tulips and primroses were my favorites. This year our primroses were spectacular! I watched for the first blooms after the North West snow. And you guessed, the primrose is still the sweetest and most lovely in the garden! Many of the primroses are over sixty five years old. A truly amazing find in a spring northwest garden...

Spring purple Wood Violets
Wild purple Wood Violets are one of the first blooming flowers in the spring. They grow easily in most areas, need some water, fairly good soil and modest sunshine. This variety requires only minimal care, usually self-seeding. This year the violets started blooming in January and will continue long into late spring. Easy to grow and enjoy in the northwest gardens...Always a favorite!

Spring Northwest Gardens.
The arrival of Spring in a northwest garden represents the absolute freedom from the cold dark days of winter for our precious gardens. Daffodils, tulips, crocus, hyacinths, lilies, violets, iris and more awaken to the first glimpse of the sun streaming into the garden. The same time year after year, amazing how the plants wake up when nature instructs them on their journey of blooming.

Winter in Washington State
Looking out my window today I see the most beautiful clouds, gray, blue, white...getting ready for a predicted wind storm coming in over the ocean. Can't even imagine how these clouds will bring mega rain and wind. The birds and flying, like nothing is changing. A very interesting day indeed. Washington state has so much raw and natural beauty to behold in every season. Today is no exception! We are so blessed to have winter, even with a wind storm approaching. Just hoping not to lose our electricity! Winter in Washington.

Bamboo and Peppermint in a Northwest garden. Summer!
Growing Bamboo and Peppermint in a bright and cheerful Northwest garden is very easy yet so wonderful. Especially when the wind is gentle. The bamboo sways and moves easily on a summer evening giving a sense of peace and tranquility to any garden... and the scent of the peppermint makes for a divine end of the day...

Tide flats of Hood Canal...Washington state.
The lovely Tide Flats of Hood Canal Washington are a bit of a stretch to be called a garden. They are only visible on a low tide. Today is an extreme low tide, all kinds of plant life are basking in the warm sunshine. Every variety of Seaweed, sea grasses, flowering northwest blooming water plants and more. A true feast for the avid nature explorer... My day is full of these lovely plants that only a few will see on any given day. Nature at its best!

Spring in a Northwest Garden...
Spring in a Northwest garden is perhaps the best time of year. It is the renewal after a long dark winter. The sunshine, blue sky, sweet scent of tulips, daffodils, flowering trees all add to the sparkle and joy of that special first day of spring...I give thanks and gratitude to mother nature for all her glory she gives us in Spring.

Pacific Northwest Fall Gardens...
Some of the best color of the Fall season can be found in the Pacific Northwest, usually in September, we can see the most beautiful gold, orange and red leaves on our deciduous trees. Wow...they only way to describe the brilliance of the color. One of my favorite is the dwarf red maple... I can hardly wait!
